The Dhaka Transport Owners’ Association, in collaboration with the Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has taken an initiative to operate buses in Dhaka city and its adjoining areas under a counter-based and e-ticketing system to make the public transport system disciplined, transparent and modern.
The new service will be formally started in the capital from next week.
The initiative was announced at a press briefing held on Monday at a city hotel in the capital.
During the briefing, it was informed that all buses will pick up and drop off passengers only from designated stoppages. Passengers will have to collect e-tickets through apps or devices to travel by bus. Under this system, no fare higher than the previously government-fixed rates will be charged.
