A new educational institute named ‘Dr Enayet Karim College’ has officially opened its doors in Malikanda village under Wazirpur Upazila of Barishal, aiming to provide quality higher education to students in remote areas and reduce dropout rates.
Md Sohrab Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) and Administrator of Barishal Zila Parishad, inaugurated the college at a ceremony, chaired by the institution’s founder, Dr Enayet Karim.
Professor Md Omar Faruq, Director of Intermediate and Higher Education in the Barishal region, Md Ali Suja, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Wazirpur, and SM Alauddin, Senior Vice-President of Wazirpur Upazila BNP, attended the event as special guests.

Addressing the event, Sohrab Hossain praised the initiative to establish a higher educational institution in a rural area and pledged the government's support.
He stressed the importance of maintaining academic quality and introducing job-oriented technical education to help students become skilled professionals.
Dr Karim, also editor of The Daily Industry, said the college would soon offer training in caregiving, languages, and technical subjects to prepare students for overseas job opportunities. Plans are also in place to introduce Honours and Master's degree programmes in the future.
He called upon the government and relevant authorities to extend cooperation in transforming the college into one of the country's top educational institutions.
