The government has extended the vacation of the upcoming Eid-ul Fitr by a day for the government employees, declaring April 20 as holiday for the interest of the homebound people.
The approval for the Eid holidays came from the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the cabinet room of the Parliament Bhaban.
“The good news is that April 20 will remain as a holiday so that the people’s Eid journey becomes easy,” Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain told a press briefing in the Bangladesh Secretariat.
Now the government employees will get at least a five-day vacation during the Eid-ul Fitr since the holiday of Shab-e Qadar falls on April 19.
If the Eid-ul Fitr is on April 22 (in case of a 29-day Ramadan), it would be a five-day vacation. And if the Eid-ul Fitr is on April 23, the vacation will be extended by one more day.
