The Local Government Division held an emergency meeting today at the Secretariat to tackle the ongoing dengue situation across Dhaka South and North City Corporations, as well as the rest of the country.
In response to the current outbreak of dengue fever, the government has formed 10 teams to oversee and coordinate mosquito control efforts. Four teams will operate in Dhaka South City Corporation, while three will be deployed in Dhaka North. Additionally, one team each has been assigned to Narayanganj, Gazipur, and Chattogram city corporations.
To cover high-risk municipalities like Savar, Dohar, Tarabo, and Rupganj, as well as other towns, another specialized team has been formed.
A seven-member committee has also been established to collect data and coordinate the dengue prevention efforts. Senior officials at the level of additional secretaries and joint secretaries from the Local Government Division have been appointed as team leaders of these groups.
The appointed officials will work closely with the chief executive officers of the respective city corporations and municipalities, inspecting at least three dengue-affected areas daily. They will monitor and supervise the implementation of dengue prevention activities.
The data collection committee will regularly submit illustrated reports detailing the actions taken and operations carried out to combat the spread of dengue.
Reports on the measures and campaigns will be regularly disseminated via websites, media outlets, and social media platforms.
