Twenty-three districts have so far been hit by flooding and many more areas might be inundated if the situation does not improve, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman said Thursday.
He made the disclosure at a virtual press briefing on overall flood situation from the ministry's conference room.
The government is by the side of the people in any disaster, he said. Relief assistance would continue.
Government has allocated 8,210 metric tonnes rice, Tk 2.22 crore cash, 40,000 dry foods and other food packets, Tk 40l akh each for cattle food and baby food in the 20 flood-hit districts, he said.
The state minister said the field administration has been directed to take steps to carry out the relief work maintaining social distancing.
Arrangements have been made to supply purified water, water purification tablets, and saline to the shelters, he added.
