Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Adviser AF Hassan Ariff said that the government is focusing on action rather than discussion to prevent dengue.
"All city corporations and municipalities of the country have already been instructed in this regard and they have taken action accordingly," he told reporters while visiting the dengue patients admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday evening.
Hassan Ariff said: “I have spoken to the patients admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital suffering from dengue. The patients are receiving good treatment and they have no complaints regarding treatment,” he added.
He said, on September 8, “We held a fruitful meeting of the National Committee on the prevention of dengue and other mosquito-borne diseases and various programs have already been adopted.”
He also said that apart from dengue, the admitted patients are suffering from typhoid, diabetic and other diseases, so recovery is taking more time than usual.
“The doctors and nurses are providing medical care with sincerity. With the combined efforts of all, we will be able to tackle the dengue situation,” the adviser hoped.
Local Government Department Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman, Additional Secretary Dr. Md Sher Ali Khan along with senior officials of Local Government Department, City Corporation and Dhaka Medical College Hospital were also present.
