Friendship NGO is promoting distance learning in this situation.
Friendship Executive Director Runa Khan says that under no circumstances education should come to a standstill. She said: “We need to find ways to keep education going strong.”
So, while Friendship continues to operate its hospitals, and works to tackle the health and economic impacts of the pandemic, its teachers are playing an equally important role. They are following up individually with students over phone, and where necessary, setting up small group studies while maintaining social distance outdoors.

Recently, Sangsad TV started airing Friendship Education videos for students all over the country. It has been chosen by the ICT Ministry and has been linked with the Ministry of ICT’s online platform Kishore Batayon (http://konnect.edu.bd/my-school).
The NGO has also launched a dedicated YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/friendshipeducation) which contains recorded lessons that they have made for their secondary schools over the last six years.
So far, 150 lessons have been uploaded and in the coming months, approximately 2,000 lessons covering grade VI to grade X will be uploaded in this channel. This might help more than 10 million secondary students all over the country, the NGO said.
