The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik Al Jalil came up with the rule after hearing a writ petition.
Barrister Mohammad Abdul Halim stood for the petitioner.
Abdul Halim, said Nabila, a one-year-old girl was crushed under the wheels of a truck as she fell from her mother’s lap when the truck hit a rickshaw carrying them in city’s Asad Gate area on October 22.
Secretaries to Home, Road Transport and Bridges Ministries, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, Inspector General of Police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner and four others have been made respondent to the rule in four weeks.
The HC also asked the Officer-in-Charge of Mohammadpur Police Station to submit a report about what steps have been taken so far in the death of Nabila so far within thirty days of the court order.
The court also fixed January 6 for next hearing.
Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) and Children Charity Bangladesh Foundation filed a writ petition seeking steps of the government about the incident.
