Case records reveal that Jasim Uddin, head of Jessica Trade International, took a Tk 60 crore loan from Padma Bank’s Khatunganj branch in 2016, with an agreement to repay within a year, which he failed to do. The loan was rescheduled in 2022 with full interest waiver benefits. Despite this, the loan, including interest, grew to approximately Tk 89 crore.
As collateral, Jasim pledged a seven-storey market located on 16.59 decimals of land in the Laldighi area of Chattogram city.
On July 18, 2020, Padma Bank filed the case against Jasim in the court due to non-repayment. On January 29, the court ordered Jasim to repay the loan with interest. When he failed to comply, a travel ban was imposed on him.
