A man was killed and three others injured in a road accident in Bakila area on the Chandpur–Cumilla regional highway on Thursday evening.
The deceased was identified as Kibria Alam, 30, a businessman and son of Abdul Malek from Rayshri union in Shahrasti Upazila.
One of the injured was identified as Rina Begum, 25, wife of Abu Sufian of Piplakara area in the same upazila.
The accident occurred around 7:30 pm when a CNG-run autorickshaw collided head-on with a chicken-laden trolley in front of a local residence in Bakila area.
Kibria Alam died on the spot.
Local former UP member Faruk Hossain said three injured persons were rescued and taken to hospital. The vehicles involved were handed over to police.
Md. Abdur Jabbar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hajiganj Police Station, said police were sent to the spot after receiving information and legal action is underway.
