A 65-year-old man was killed in an attack by a wild elephant at Balijuri in Sribordi upazila of Sherpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Ahmed Ali alias Batalu of Malakocha village in the upazila.
Sumon Mia, forest official of Balijuri range, said Ahmed Ali was killed in an attack by a wild elephant when he along with others went to the hill to collect wood around 10 am.
Forest officer Sumon said a herd of wild elephants has been residing in the Balijuri Hills for the past four to five months. A calf was recently born, which has caused the herd to be agitated.
