Fishermen recovered the floating body of a man on Friday, 26 hours after he went missing while fishing in Mithamain Haor in Kishoreganj, said police.
The deceased was identified as Syed Miah, 60, of Atpasha (Nayabari) village.
Quoting the locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mithamain Police Station Kalindra Nath Golder said, Syed Miah went fishing in the canal adjacent to Mahmudpur Bazar of the Dhaki union of the upazila yesterday.

"At one point, his fishing net got stuck deep in the canal. He then tried to dive into the water to release the net. However, he couldn't get out of the water," said the police official.
A five-member dive team of Kishoreganj Fire Service started the rescue operation around 3:15pm on Thursday, which was later called off due to a strong current of water, OC Kalinda said.

Later, fishermen found the body floating in the haor near Mithamain Sadar Union around 9:30am on Friday, he said.
Later, relatives of the deceased came and took the body home, he added.
