A 35-year old man died and five others sustained injuries in a collision between two launches at Miar Char in the Meghna River on the border of Haimchar upazila of Chandpur on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sohel, a resident of Char Fashion of Bhola district.
Chandpur Naval Security and Traffic Management Department Deputy Director Md Bashir Ali Khan said a passenger was killed in a collision between two launches named Shuravi-8 and Tipu-14 around 12:30 pm.

Another collision occurred between two launches, Chandpur-bound MV RAF RAF-7 and Patuakhali-bound MV AR Khan-1, due to dense fog in Mohanpur area of Matlab Uttar upazila of Chandpur early Tuesday.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Chandpur IWTA Deputy Director Shahadat Hossain said the Raf Raf launch was slightly damaged in the collision.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director Md Bashir Ali Khan called the launch drivers and masters at Chandpur Launch Ghat and gave them awareness guidelines as the number of launch accidents has increased due to dense fog.
