Police on Saturday filed a case involving Friday’s clashes between Jamaat-Shibir men and police in Agrabad Chaumuhani area of Chattogram city.
The names of 16 people arrested in the case have been mentioned as some 500 unnamed people have been made accused.

The case was filed with Double Mooring Police Station on Saturday.
Confirming the development, Double Mooring Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shakhawat Hossain said: "Yesterday, Jamaat attacked the police from a Shibir procession, vandalised the police car and injured several policemen.”

“Five of the 21 people arrested at the scene were released as they were not involved. The case has been filed against 400 to 500 unnamed people, including the remaining 16. They were produced before a court in connection with the case.”
After Jummah prayers on Friday, thousands of Jamaat-Shibir activists suddenly took out a procession from Badamtoli intersection in Agrabad. When the procession reached Chaumuhani crossing, the police stopped them and the activists got dispersed.

Later, they attacked a police vehicle and vandalised it. When Mukur Chakma, assistant commissioner of Double Mooring Zone of Police, came out of the car they threw brickbats at him. Three policemen, including him, were injured. Police arrested 21 people from the spot.
However, Jamaat claimed that the police attacked its peaceful rally with the help of Chhatra League and Jubo League.
