Inspector General of Police, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, has affirmed that the police force possesses the capability to address any forthcoming challenges and uphold law and order in the country.
He also said that the police stand ready to perform their legal duties to protect the lives and property of the people.
The IGP made the remarks while addressing a special welfare meeting with police officers and members working in different units of Dhaka Range at Mil Barrack Police Lines in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Presided over by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range Syed Nurul Islam, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional IGP (Administration) Md Kamrul Ahsan, Additional IGP (Special Branch) Md Monirul Islam, Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Md Atiqul Islam, DIG (Operations) Md Anwar Hossain and Dhaka District Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman.
The IGP affirmed that the police force has successfully earned the trust and confidence of the public through their steadfast commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“As a result, there has been a notable increase in the expectations placed upon the police by the community. To sustain this positive trajectory, it is imperative that police personnel continue to carry out their duties with unwavering dedication,” he said.

"We have seen the rise of militancy and terrorism in the country at one time. The south-west of the country was a region of terror. There were simultaneous bombings in 63 districts. What are we seeing now? Militancy is under control in the country as the police have performed their duties under the 'zero tolerance' policy of the Prime Minister against militancy and terrorism,” he said.
The IGP said the police have managed to create an investment-friendly environment in the country.
IGP Mamun warned that strict action will be taken against any policeman who commits any kind of wrongdoing or is involved in the crime.
The police force will not bear the responsibility, he added.

Superintendents of Police and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of 98 police stations of 13 districts under Dhaka range and police officers and members of different ranks were present in the meeting.
