Chandpur, Oct 29 (UNB) –A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Shahapur village in Faridganj upazila early Tuesady.
The identity of the deceased could not be yet.
A Rakib, officer-in-charge of Faridganj Police Station, said tipped-off that a gang of robbers was preparing to commit robbery, a team of police went to Cherag Alir Bagan area around 2am.
Sensing their presence, the robbers opened fire towards police prompting them to fire back in self-defense.
Police recovered an injured robber and took him to Faridganj Upazila health Complex where doctors declared him dead. The body was taken to ChandpurSadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC added
Police recovered an old pipe gun, a Chinese axe, a sword and a dagger from the spot.
