After being closed for two days, Tangail Sadar Police Station was reopened in presence of the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement on Wednesday evening.
Officials from the district administration, and police administration were presenr at the time. Later, the police personnel at the station resumed their activities.
It has been learned that after Sheikh Hasina's resignation on Monday afternoon, protesters carried out attacks and vandalism in various places in the district. When the protesters attempted to surround the Sadar Police Station at that time, the police fired bullets, tear gas, and sound grenades to control the situation. Two protesters were killed during this time. Due to security concerns, all activities at the station had been closed since that day.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Golam Sabur said, "Following the instructions of our IGP, we decided to resume the station's activities after discussing with the coordinators of the student movement."
In continuation of that, the Sadar Police Station was opened today at 6 pm, he added.
