Workers cannot leave workplaces during Eid holidays: Monnujan

The workers, including the ones employed in the apparel sector, will not be allowed to leave their workplaces during the upcoming three-day Eid holidays to stop further spread of Covid-19. UNB file photo

The state minister made the announcement during a tripartite meeting held in the capital to discuss the present situation of the workers, their salaries, and Eid bonus issues.

Monnujan also asked the factory owners to pay the salaries and Eid bonuses of their workers within Monday and all the owners agreed to that.

Also, the state minister instructed all the factory owners to announce their Eid vacation schedule in compliance with the government decision of a three-day holiday for Eid.

"However, no worker can leave their workplace during Eid holidays. The decision of restricting workers from going to their ancestral homes during the Eid holidays has been taken to reduce the chances of them getting infected," she said.
