The stock market regulatory body, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), has awarded 11 institutions the ‘Golden Jubilee Award of Freedom’ for best performance as capital market stakeholders for last year.
Among the institutions, BSEC itself got the best mediator award in the capital market.
Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam handed over the awards to the winners at a ceremony at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Monday.
At the event, 11 organizations were awarded in three categories. Island Securities Limited won the first prize in the stock broker and stock dealer category. Lanka Bangla Securities Limited and Green Delta Securities Limited won second and third awards respectively.
ICB Capital Management Ltd. and UCB Investments Ltd. won in the Merchant Banker category. City Bank Capital Resources Limited and Sandhani Life Finance Limited became second respectively. Third is Lanka Bangla Investments Limited.
In the asset management category, Shanta Asset Management Ltd. was first, Alliance Capital Asset Management Ltd. came second and IDLC Asset Management Ltd. third.
Sheikh Mohammad Salim Ullah, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division, of the Ministry of Finance, was present as a special guest on the occasion. BSEC Chairman, Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, chaired the function.
BSEC Chairman in a welcome speech said, "We work with 1100 companies. This is the first time we have been able to create a competition on the golden jubilee of independence. We will increase this competition among the companies in the future.”
