Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui on Tuesday asked the BGB members to firmly thwart any attempt to carry out sabotage, violence or create chaos during the election.
The BGB DG came up with the instruction while exchanging views with BGB personnel during his visit to several election base camps in the capital and its adjoining areas.
The BGB chief visited election base camps set up at Mugda Ideal School and College and Uttara Haji Camp in Dhaka and Tongi BGB camp in Gazipur.
During his visits, he observed the overall preparedness of BGB, the law and order and security arrangements.
He also inquired about the plans taken to ensure election security and provided necessary guidelines for their proper implementation.
The BGB DG directed members to perform their election duties with the highest level of professionalism, dedication and neutrality.
“No negligence in maintaining law and order would be tolerated,” he said.
He also urged all personnel to remain highly vigilant.

To ensure that voters can cast their ballots in a peaceful and fear-free environment, The BGB chief asked for the setting up of check posts, along with search operations, to maintain a congenial atmosphere for a free, fair and neutral election.
He also urged members to behave in a polite, humane and responsible manner with voters and the general public.
