The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) has demanded the release of all political prisoners.
It made the demand during a symbolic hunger strike held on Monday as part of solidarity with the nationwide blockade near Bijoy 71 Square in the capital.

BM Nazmul Hoque, convenor of Dhaka City South, presided over the meeting where Mojibur Rahman Monju, member secretary, and Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuaad, joint member secretary, spoke, among others, at the event, according to a press release.

Mojibur Rahman Monju said the events on October 28 were a pre-planned sabotage by this "autocratic" government.

"The unlawful detention of tens of thousands of pro-democracy activists was a clear attempt to undermine the forthcoming election. Currently, our prisons are over capacity, yet arrests are made over nights on a regular basis. Under this current condition, if the EC attempts to announce the election schedule, the nation will reject it and treat members of this puppet Election Commission as traitors," he said.
