“Everyone must be given a free coronavirus vaccine. It may not be possible for poor people to get vaccinated spending money. So, necessary steps need to be taken to ensure a free corona vaccine for all,” he said.
The Jatiya Party leader said, “People want a clear idea about the vaccine and to be assured that they’ll get it at the right time. The government has to play a responsible role in this regard.”
He made the remarks while exchanging views with the leaders of Bangladesh Private Teachers-Employees Forum at the Jatiya Party Chairman's Banani office.
GM Quader said the coronavirus cases have been growing in the USA and different European countries with the arrival of winter.
“The prevalence of corona is also increasing in Bangladesh. But there’s no preparation in sight to deal with the worsening situation,” he observed.
The Jatiya Party chief said though the government is saying they have taken all the preparations to tackle corona, people are not getting ICU support at private hospitals in the capital even after spending money.
“Covid patients with breathing problems are facing serious difficulties for lack of oxygen support. Children are dying in front of parents due to shortness of breath. They can’t do anything to save their kids,” he lamented.
Stating that there is apparently no treatment for corona patients in many private hospitals, GM Quader said healthcare services should be provided free of cost at every hospital for the deadly virus-infected people.
“There’s no medical service in government hospitals outside Dhaka for the corona patients and the oxygen support is not available in the case of breathing problems. Various projects are being implemented spending thousands of crores of taka, but there’s no visible step to save people's lives,” he observed.
