BUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Satya Prasad Majumder said the apex engineering university BUET and Walton would work together on research and development of Bangladesh-made electronics and hi-tech products.
They’ll be able to make a great contribution to the country's economic development and technological advancement, he said.
VC Majumder came up with these remarks while visiting Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited (WHIL) factory at Chandra in Gazipur on Tuesday.
“It pleases us to see how Walton has reached a significant level in terms of product quality. It has become a strong competitor to foreign brands,” he said.

WHIL Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed said, “We’ve undertaken this project so that young engineers in Bangladesh can do research at Walton. That is why we’ve taken initiative to work jointly with the engineering universities. This’ll close the brain drain.”
Earlier, four engineering universities individually signed memoranda of understanding with Walton to jointly work on research and development of the domestically produced hi-tech product’s technologies.
