Walton eyes to export products worth $3 billion by 2030
Walton exported products worth $14 million this year, a big jump from $1.4 million last year, Managing Director and CEO of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited Golam Murshed said recently.
The company wants to export products worth $1 billion by 2025 and $3 billion by 2030, he added.
Murshed was addressing "Quality Conference Season-2" in Dhaka on World Quality Day.

"Walton has managed to hold the largest portion of the electronics market in Bangladesh in only 12 years and is exporting products to more than 40 countries," he added.
"Skilled engineers and experts from home and abroad are working in various sectors, including research and innovation, quality management, to make the company's 'Vision Go Global 2030' a reality."

Walton gets president's industrial award
Walton has received the "President's Award for Industrial Development 2019" for contribution to the private sector, employment generation and economy of the country.
Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited got the prestigious award as the top organisation in the high-tech industry category this year.
On Thursday, the award was handed over at a programme in the capital. Nineteen industrial units under six categories, including Walton, received the awards.

President Abdul Hamid was virtually present as the chief guest. Planning Minister MA Mannan, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and State Minister for Industries Ministry Kamal Ahmed Majumder were present as special guests.
Golam Murshed, managing director and chief executive officer of Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, received the award on behalf of Walton.
The award was introduced by the Ministry of Industries in the name of the president to encourage the creativity of the private sectors. Each organisation was given a crest and a certificate as a reward.

Golam Murshed said: "Bangladesh is now a manufacturing and export-oriented country in the electronics sector with Walton having exported goods worth $14 million this year. We have set a target of exporting electronics products worth $1 billion by 2025."

'Boosting electronics, hi-tech industry the need of the day'
Boosting the domestic electronics and hi-tech industry is highly required for achieving the government's vision of turning Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041, said Walton Hi-Tech Industries Managing Director Golam Murshed at an international summit in Switzerland.
Murshed, also the chief executive officer of Walton Hi-Tech, called for improvement in research and innovation for boosting the country's electronics and hi-tech product manufacturing industries.
He made the remarks while addressing the concluding session of the first phase of a roadshow titled "Investor summit: Bangladesh capital markets" held in Switzerland's Zurich recently.

To facilitate and encourage the non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to invest in the country's capital market, the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) initiated the two-phases roadshow "The Rise of Bengal Tiger: Potentials of Trade and Investment in Bangladesh."
Murshed said: "Bangladesh is now showing successes in several fields including GDP growth, poverty alleviation, and improvement of living standards; increase in education rate, empowerment of women, foreign exchange supply, stable capital market, political stability; infrastructure and policy development."
"Using the government's industry-friendly duty and policy support, Walton has become Bangladesh's electronics giant. Beyond the country's boundaries, Walton products are being exported to around 40 countries."

The investor summit has been attended by high-level delegates from Bangladesh and Switzerland, along with business conglomerates and investors.
Also, the NRBs, foreign investors and institutional investors in Switzerland joined the summit.
Earlier, the roadshows were also held in four cities in the US and UAE this year. Walton is one of the partners of the US and Switzerland roadshows. The upcoming roadshows, led by the BSEC, will be held in Russia and the UK.

'Walton ahead of others in protecting ozone layer'
Walton is ahead of other private sector players in protecting the environment, speakers said this at a seminar in the capital Saturday.
The Department of Environment and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited jointly organised the seminar to mark the "World Ozone Day," celebrated internationally on September 16 every year to raise awareness against ozone layer depletion and global warming.
This year's theme for the international day was "Montreal Protocol – keeping us, our food, and vaccines cool."

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin attended the seminar as chief guest and Walton Hi-Tech Industries Chairman SM Nurul Alam Rezvi and Vice-Chairman SM Shamsul Alam as special guests.
Speakers at the event said the ozone layer is a blessing for the world and animals. It is the filter of the earth. But the use of harmful chemicals and gases has been depleting the layer.
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed in 1987. Bangladesh is one of the signatories to the protocol.

Under the protocol, the country is working on controlling the use of about 100 ozone-depleting substances.
Speaking as the chief guest, Shahab Uddin appreciated the various initiatives taken by Walton to protect the ozone layer.
Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Begum Habibun Nahar said, "Walton is ahead of others in protecting the ozone layer and the environment."

'Walton adds new dimension to technology research, innovation'
The sustainable development of any country or organisation requires the application of talent and skills, along with labour, according to experts.
The research and innovation (R&I) strength measures the capabilities of the production-oriented industry, and Walton has added new dimensions to technology research, development and innovation in Bangladesh, they said.

The experts made the remarks recently while addressing the day-long "Research and Innovation Summit 2021" held in Gazipur.
The summit was arranged to highlight Walton's research and innovative activities, share knowledge and showcase advanced features of products such as smart refrigerator, smart air conditioner, smart television, washing machine, compressor, blender, mixer grinder, gas stove, and rice cooker, according to a media statement.
Educationalists, technology researchers and around 1,000 expert engineers attended the summit.

Zafar Iqbal said, "I have dreamed all my life that there would be a full-fledged research and innovation centre in Bangladesh. The dream has been fulfilled today through Walton. Walton Industries’ EGM held
Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited, held its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Wednesday (July 14, 2021) morning over a virtual platform.
At the meeting, the shareholders unanimously approved the proposal to use the unspent money raised through the public offering of the company and the net interest of the IPO money deposited in the BMRE of the company.

Walton declares 1yr replacement guarantee for cassette, ceiling type AC
Walton has announced a one-year replacement guarantee for its locally-manufactured cassettes and ceiling-type air conditioners.
In Bangladesh, only Walton is offering a replacement guarantee facility on the commercially used cassette and ceiling type ACs, the company said in a press release. `
In addition, the local brand also raised the guarantee period of the compressor of its commercially used ACs to five years from three years.

Walton announced the fresh guarantee periods for its commercial ACs at a declaration programme held at Walton Corporate Office in the capital on March 27.

Walton AC’s CEO Tanvir said that they have given special importance on delivering the latest technology products at affordable prices as well as providing maximum after-sales benefits to the customers.

These ACs can be bought on easy installments, he noted.
AC R&D Dept Head Ariful Islam said that Walton engineers are constantly adding sophisticated technology to the AC.
To ensure highest quality, durability and maximum cooling performance, hydrophilic golden fin condenser is being used in Walton's cassette and ceiling type commercial ACs, he said.
More powerful and energy efficient modern scroll type compressor is used in these commercial ACs. Besides, the globally recognised environmental-friendly R410A refrigerant is being used in the compressors of Walton commercial AC.
AC’s COO Engineer Sandwip Biswas said, Walton is producing and marketing 4 and 5 ton cassettes and ceiling type ACs for medium installations like school, college, mosque, madrasa, hospital, hotel, restaurant, and conference hall.
