Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday criticized the US decision to ease sanctions on Russian oil, saying it “does not help peace.”
Speaking at a joint news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Zelensky said the move could give Russia around $10 billion to fund its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Macron said Russia would be “mistaken” to think the US-Israel conflict with Iran would give it any respite.
He added that the G7 confirmed on Wednesday that rising oil prices “must in no way lead us to reconsider our sanctions policy toward Russia.”
