Reserved seat MP Sheikh Anne Rahman dies
Reserved seat MP Sheikh Anne Rahman died at a hospital in Bangkok on Tuesday. She was 62.
Sheikh Anne, who had been suffering from cancer, breathed her last around 1pm in Bangkok, said Goutam Narayan Roy Chowdhury, personal assistant of Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim.
She was survived by her husband Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, cousin of the father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a son and a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn her death.
Her body will be brought home on Wednesday from Bangkok.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expressed her deep shock and sorrow at the death of Anne Rahman.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said that Anne Rahman was the child of the Awami political family.
“She was always enthusiastic for the development of her respective area,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul.
