Constitutional Reform Commission meets Chief Justice
The members of the Constitutional Reform Commission, led by its chairman Prof Ali Riaz, met Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed on Wednesday.
The Chief Justice and the members of the commission exchanged views on how to keep the judicial process free from interference and make justice easily accessible to people through necessary reforms to the constitution and judicial system.
Nationwide survey on constitutional reform to begin tomorrow
The progress of the activities of the reform commission was also discussed, said a press release.
The reform commission members Barrister Imran Siddique, Prof Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Dr Sharif Bhuiyan, Barrister M Moin Alam Ferozi, Firoz Ahmed and Mustain Billah were present at the meeting.

Constitutional Reform Commission exchanges views with civil society members
The Constitutional Reform Commission on Wednesday exchanged views with the members of civil society and different organisations.
As part of the ongoing series of talks with different stakeholders, the views-exchange meeting was held at the Cabinet Room of Jatiya Sangsad.
Justice Imman Ali, Raja Devasish Roy and Prof Rabiul Islam placed their recommendations over the constitutional reform at the event chaired by chairman of the reform commission Prof Ali Riaz.
Besides, a total of 16 representatives raised different proposals from their respective organisations over the constitutional reform.
Constitutional Reform Commission sits with Judiciary Reform Commission
The representatives who came from different organisations included Roman Uddin and Apan Zahir of the Center for Governance Studies (CGS), Akhtar Hossain Khan of the Newspaper Owners Association of Bangladesh (NOAB), Prof Mirza Taslima and Prof Kazi Maruful Islam of the University Teachers Network, Sanjida Islam Tuli and Mosfiqur Rahman Johan of Mayer Daak and Md Junaid and Millat Hossain of the Bangladesh Judicial Service Association.
The other representatives are Tamanna Singh Baraik and Puja Rani of the Dalit Women Forum, Nadira Parveen and Sultan Md Salauddin Siddique of the Nagorik Uddyog, Joya Sikder and Sudip Kumar Das of the Sampurna, and Najma Akhter of the Sammilit Garments Sramik Federation.
Commission members Prof Sumaiya Khair, Barrister Imran Siddique, Prof Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Barrister M Moin Alam Ferozi, Firoz Ahmed and Mustain Billah were present at the meeting.

Constitutional Reform: BNP submits 62 proposals, seeks retention of VP, DPM
The BNP on Tuesday submitted a total of 62 proposals to the Constitutional Reform Commission, including the retention of the positions of Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister.
The party's proposals also include introducing a provision to limit a Prime Minister's tenure to no more than two consecutive terms, the creation of a second chamber in Parliament and provisions for referendums.
A two-member delegation, led by the party's standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, submitted a written copy of the proposals to Professor Ali Riaz, the head of the Constitutional Reform Commission, at the Parliament building.

Speaking to reporters, Salahuddin explained that the proposals were submitted to ensure a balance of power in line with the desire of the people.
"We have made proposals concerning the judiciary, as well as recommendations for the establishment of a Vice President and a Deputy Prime Minister. We have addressed all aspects relating to the executive, judiciary, and legislative branches to ensure a balance of power,” he said.
The BNP leader said the Constitutional Reform Commission would present the proposals to the government for its consideration.
