Jubo League leader hacked to death in Pabna; family points to local AL leaders
A Jubo League leader was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals in Santhia upazila of Pabna on Monday night, said police.
The deceased, Amirul Islam Master, was the son of Lohai Pramanik from Khetupara village in Khetupara Union.
He worked as an office assistant at Khetupara High School and was the proposed organizational secretary of the upazila Jubo League committee.
Family members and police said there had long been a dispute between Amirul and local Awami League activists Khaleq, Imu, and Mithu.
32-year-old’s wrists severed in Pabna
Around 8pm, the accused allegedly assaulted Amirul’s brother Ashraf. Hearing the news, Amirul rushed to the scene but the attackers forced him into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, took him some distance away, and hacked him before fleeing in Chak Pata Uttarpara area of Gaurigram union, they said.
Locals rescued him and took him to Santhia Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead.
Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saidur Rahman said they were at the scene and trying to gather details. Further information will be provided later.
