The accident took place due to the snapping of a hoist, with a lifting capacity of 500 kilograms and designated solely for transporting materials, broke due to overloading. Despite strict regulations allowing only materials to be transported using the hoist, two assistants of the contractor, Nurur Safa, violated the safety protocol and boarded the hoist along with the materials. As a result of the excessive load, the hoist cable snapped, causing the accident and injuries to both workers. Immediately after the incident, GPH Ispat's ambulance transported the injured workers, accompanied by our medical team, to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Unfortunately, both workers succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the hospital.
We at GPH Ispat are deeply grieved by this unfortunate event and extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The sudden loss of two valued team members has cast a deep shadow over the entire GPH family. Safety remains our highest priority, and this irreparable loss has profoundly impacted us. We pray for the departed souls and remain steadfast in our commitment to fully support the affected families during this difficult time."
