Ishraque visiting ramadan market
Spice prices stable in Dhaka’s wholesale markets during Ramadan: Ishraque
Supply of spices in the market is normal and strict monitoring is in place to prevent any manipulation of prices by traders, State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain said on Saturday.
Ishraque made the remarks while visiting the wholesale spice market at Shyambazar in Old Dhaka along with officials of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
“We are keeping a close watch so that no one can manipulate prices or create an artificial shortage by hoarding goods. After visiting the market, it appears that the situation remains stable. Prices of onions, garlic, ginger and other spices are normal,” he said.
Ishraque also sought cooperation from the public, saying the government will address any market-related problems with the support of people.
“With the cooperation of the public, we expect the market management to remain stable,” he said.
The state minister also said steps have already been taken to address drainage problems and gas shortages in the wholesale markets of Old Dhaka.

“We have contacted WASA and are maintaining communication with city corporation officials. We are also in touch with Titas gas authorities to deal with the gas shortage,” said the state minister.
Ishraque said he will soon hold a press conference to brief the media on the initiatives taken since assuming office.
