N’ganj bomb: 2 Neo- JMB men held in city
Two suspected members of the banned militant group Neo-JMB were arrested from city’s Jatrabari on Sunday night in a drive by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The arrestees were identified as Shafiqur Rahman Hridoy alias Baitullah Mehsud aliad Captain Khattab, a bomb maker of the militant group and Khalid Hasan Bhuiya alias Afnan.

“Tipped off, a CTTC special action group conducted a drive in the area and arrested the members of the banned militant group in the night,” said Chief of CTTC unit Mohammad Asaduzzaman, also the additional police commissioner of DMP.
The CTTC also recovered some explosive materials, a remote control device, one motorbike and other materials, he said.
Police said the arrestees had a link with the bomb explosion at the Signboard police box in Siddhirganj, said Asaduzzaman at a press briefing at DMP media centre on Monday.

Asaduzzaman said “The CTTC unit in a drive in Noagaon in Araihazar upazila, arrested a member of Neo-JMB Military branch member Abdullah Al Mamun along with bomb and bomb making materials on July 11. After interrogation, they came to know about Shafiqur and Khalid.”
According to the information, the Neo-JMB members planted a bomb at the Signboard Traffic Police Box in Siddhirganj in a bid to kill police on May 16 as per the order of their Ameer Mahadi Hasan Jon alias Abbad Al Bangali, he said.

“Due to technical fault, they failed to explode the bomb and left the place leaving the remote on the road. Later, a bomb disposal unit defused the bomb.”
However, a case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station.

N’ganj raid: ‘Militant’ held with bomb, bomb-making materials
The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit on Sunday night arrested a suspected member of Neo JMB along with three bombs and bomb-making materials following a raid on a house in Kazipara area at Madanpur port of Narayanganj.
The arrestee was identified as Major Osama alias Nayeem, a member of the military wing of Neo JMB.

CTTC chief Md Asauduzzaman said three bombs, four remote controls, bomb-making materials and a large number of jihadi books were seized during the raid.
He also said that the members of a bomb disposal unit defused the bombs at the spot.
He said that Osama was an Imam of a local mosque and used to live in a house beside it with his family.

He operated his militant activities from the house, said the officer.
“Three days ago we arrested three members of Neo JMB from Mirpur. We got information about Major Osama from them,” added Asaduzzaman.
“We arrested him from nearby his home on Sunday evening and later raided his house at night,” he said.

However, family members of the arrestee were not in the house during the raid.
"The house was used as a den of militants to make bombs. The bomb, found near a police box in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj on May 17, was made in this house, CTTC Additional Deputy Commissioner Ahmedul Islam said on Sunday.

2 ‘Neo-JMB members’ held in city
Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested two suspected members of the banned militant group ‘Neo-JMB’ from the city’s Matuail area.
One of the arrestees was identified as Sakib Ahmed Chowdhury alias Jaki while the other’s name was not disclosed.

Tipped off, a team of Investigation Division of the CTTC unit conducted drives in Matuail area under Jatrabari police station on Tuesday and arrested the duo along with two mobile phone sets, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the DMP (Media) Iftekhairul Islam.
Sources at the CTTC said the arrestees are active members of banned militant group Neo-JMB.
They gathered at Matuail to plan sabotage in Dhaka city, they said.
The arrested militants have been involved in carrying out propaganda on social media like Facebook and other online platforms inspired by violent extremist ideology.

The accused used to communicate online with members of various levels including the top leaders of the Neo JMB.
Arrested Shakib worked as a freelancer after completing study at a private university in Sylhet and the other (juvenile accused) was a student of Sylhet Government Primary Pilot High School, according to the Counter Terrorism Investigation Division.
