A team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the second-in-command leader of banned militant outfit ‘Neo-JMB’ on Thursday.
The arrestee has been identified as Shirina Khatun, alias Tahsin Abdullah, 23, of village Bashbaria in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenidah.
A CTTC squad conducted a raid in the city’s Gabtoli area around 4pm and arrested Shirina and seized a mobile phone from her possession, said DMP’s CTTC sources.
The sources also said that she used to work under the command of Neo-JMB’s female wing chief Asmani Khatun.
They were involved in collecting members online and used to provide training, sources said adding that they also had link with JMB leaders Islam Al Hindi, Abu Dujana and Abu Mohammad.
Shirina was accused in a case with Motijhil Police Station, sources said.
