Instructions
First, soak chickpeas (cholar dal) for 2 hours, and grind. Then mix the paste in thick milk with cardamom and a tablespoon of ghee. Cook on low heat, stirring to avoid sticking.
Now, gradually add the rest of the ghee. Once thickened, transfer to a greased plate, let it set for 30 minutes, then cut into square shapes. You can garnish with cashews or preferred dry fruits before serving.

Shahi Carrot Halwa (Gajar-er Shahi Malai Halwa)
Ingredients
500 grams carrots, 1/2 cup milk, 1 teaspoon fresh cream (malai), 2 tablespoons ghee, 1/2 cup sugar or as needed, 1 pinch salt, 10-12 cashew nuts (chopped), 12 raisins, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, 250 ml full cream milk, 6 tablespoon powder milk, and 1 tablespoon date palm jaggery
Instructions
First, peel and grate carrots. Boil milk, add milk powder and date palm jaggery for malai. Simmer until semi-thick. Next, fry grated carrots in ghee, sweeten them with sugar, and cook in milk. Then, combine with malai, stirring constantly.
After that, roast cashews, raisins, and cardamom powder in ghee, mix with halwa, set in a mould, and garnish with cashews. Serve Shahi Malai Gajar Halwa warm for a delectable sweet dessert with a twist.

Semolina Halwa (Neshesta Halwa)
Ingredients1 cup fine suji/semolina, 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 4 tablespoons ghee, 1 teaspoon rose water, 2 drops red/orange/green food colour, 1/4 cup pistachio (finely chopped), and 1/4 cup almond (thin slices)
Instructions
First, wash suji twice and soak it in 2-3 cups of water overnight. Drain the water, add 2 cups of water, and rub well. Next, strain using a cotton cloth, preserving the strained starch.
Then, in a small vessel, mix the starch with sugar, ghee, lemon juice, and rose water. Cook on medium heat, stirring continuously on low flame until it becomes transparent and absorbs all the ghee. At this stage, add colour, cook until well-mixed, then add pistachio nuts. Freeze, garnish with sliced almonds, cut as desired, and enjoy!

Coconut Barfi (Narikel-er Barfi)
Ingredients
2 cups coconut paste, 1 cup thick milk, 2 tablespoons semolina (suji), 1/2 cup ghee, 1 cup sugar, 1 piece cardamom powder, 2 pieces chopped almonds, and 1 tablespoon raisins
Instructions
First, heat ghee in a pan, add semolina, and roast. Add coconut paste, stir until roasted, then add milk, sugar, chopped almonds, and raisins. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens.
Then, sprinkle cardamom powder, mix well, and transfer the mixture to a greased plate. Level it and cut it into desired shapes. Garnish with raisins and almonds. This narikel barfi can be stored for a few days.

Egg Masub (Dim-er Monsur Pak)
Ingredients
3/4 cup oil or ghee, 3 eggs, 3/4 cup sugar, and crushed cardamom.
Instructions
First, in a deep pan, combine eggs, sugar, and oil. Stir with a whisk, incorporating crushed cardamom. Heat the mixture on the stove, stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Use a wooden spatula for even stirring and cook for 10 minutes until the oil separates, and the colour and texture change.

Beef price higher by upto Tk 50 per kg in a month
The price of beef increased by upto Tk 50 per kg in a month, ahead of Shab-e-Barat and Ramadan on claims of supply shortage.
In this regard, Golam Murtaza, President of the Bangladesh Meat Traders Association, told UNB that now the farmers are not willing to sell cows at present in the hope of getting better prices during Ramadan and Eid.

“Due to this supply crisis, the price of cattle has increased slightly in the market. It has also affected the price of meat,” he said.
On Tuesday, after visiting Karwan Bazar, Moghbazar, and Rampura kitchen markets of the capital and talking with meat traders, the correspondent learned that most of the butchers are selling beef at Tk 720 to Tk 750 per kg.
Even in the last week of January, the consumers were able to buy beef within Tk 700 per kg. Accordingly, the market price has increased by at least Tk50 per kg in the last two weeks.

Towards the end of 2023, beef prices suddenly started to fall. At that time, meat traders in Dhaka sold beef at Tk600 per kg.

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) also said that beef is being sold at Tk 700 to Tk 750 per kg. The price of beef has increased by Tk 50 per kg in the last one month.

The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of fortune and forgiveness, was observed in Bangladesh on Tuesday with religious fervour.
According to Muslim belief, Shab-e-Barat is the night when Allah arranges the affairs of the following year.
On this night, Allah writes the destinies of all creations for the coming year by taking into account their past deeds.
Muslim devotees offered special prayers and recited from the Holy Quran seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind.
They passed the whole night offering prayers.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on using firecrackers in areas under its jurisdiction in the capital ahead of the holy Shab-e-Barat.
The 12-hour restriction will come into effect from 6pm this evening and remain in force till 6am the next day, DMP Commissioner Khandker Gulam Faruk said.
The ban was imposed to maintain the law and order in the capital and ensure the sanctity of Shab-e-Barat, he added.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and private TV channels and radio stations will air special programmes, highlighting the significance of the night.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages on the occasion on Monday. They greeted all Muslims in the country and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat.
President Abdul Hamid in his message said the holy Shab-e-Barat comes to mark the advent of the holy month of Ramadan and good fortune.
“On this holy night of Shab-e-Barat, we pray for the continued progress, welfare, and greater unity of the Muslim Ummah, along with seeking eternal mercy and blessings from the Almighty Allah. May the full virtues of the holy Shab-e-Barat be upon us.”

1 Cup chana dal, 1 cup water, 3 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp saffron, 1 cup sugar, 2 tsp cardamom powder, 1/2 tsp clove powder, 10 pieces almonds, 10 pieces cashew nuts
Method:
First, wash the chana dal and then soak it in water for two hours. Then cook the soaked chana dal and the water in a pressure cooker for about 10 minutes. Now, heal ghee in a pan and add the chana dal. Cook and stir frequently to make a thick liquid. Add saffron and stir well so that it mixes well. Then add sugar, cardamom powder, clove powder, almond, and cashew nut and remove from the stove when it becomes sticky and smells a good aroma. Garnish with Chopped almonds and serve.
Green Pea Halwa Recipe
Ingredients :
1 cup chickpeas, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 cup ghee, 2 cardamom pods
For garnish:
1 teaspoon ghee, 5-6 pistachios ( chopped), 10-12 raisins
Method:
First, wash the green peas and blend them to have a good puree. Then heat ghee in a pan and then add the peas puree and keep stirring. Cook on low heat for 7-8 minutes. Then add sugar and cardamom powder and continue cooking and stirring until all the extra moisture is absorbed and the halwa becomes non-sticky. Remove the heat. Meanwhile, fry the dry fruits with ghee till fragrant and put them over the halwa for garnishing and then serve.

DMP bans crackers ahead of Shab-e-Barat
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) imposed a ban on carrying explosives, crackers and explosion of firecrackers in the areas of its jurisdiction in the capital ahead the holy Shab-e-Barat to be observed on Friday next.
DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam enforced the restriction under section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance-1976 (Ord. No. III of 1976), for maintaining the sanctity and ensuring peaceful observation of the Shab-e-Barat, said an official release of DMP on Wednesday.

Shab-e-Barat on March 18
Muslims in Bangladesh will observe the holy Shab-e-Barat on the night of March 18 as the Shaban moon was not sighted in the country on Thursday.
As the moon was not sighted the holy month of Shaban will begin from March 5 and Shab-e-Barat will be observed on March 18.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office in the evening.
State Minister of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Md Faridul Haq Khan presided over the meeting.
