The mortality rate stands at 1.44 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services.
Forty coronavirus-related deaths were recorded on Tuesday.
Besides, 1,632 new Covid-19 cases were reported until Wednesday morning, taking the country’s caseload to 495,841.
So far, 429,351 patients – 86.35 percent – including 2,622 ones in the last 24 hours, have recovered.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 7000 on December 12.

Until now, 3,022,537 tests have been carried out, including 18,032 new ones. So far, 16.40 percent of the tests turned out to be positive.
Bangladesh is seeing 2,911.46 infections, 2,521.05 recoveries, and 42.02 deaths per million.

Global situation
More than 73.5 million people have been infected with coronavirus globally and over 1.63 million of them died since the first cases were reported in December last year, according to data compiled by the Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The global caseload stood at 73,518,382 with 1,636,225 fatalities on Wednesday.
In the United States, the total number of Covid-19 cases topped 16.7 million according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at JHU.

The US case count rose to 16,724, 772, with 303,849 deaths as of Wednesday morning.
