Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has urged those injured in the July Uprising never to lose morale, assuring them that the Army will always stand by their side.
The army chief made the remarks at an Iftar and dinner event organised by the Bangladesh Army in honour of the injured students at Sena Malancha in Dhaka Cantonment on Sunday evening.
General Waker-uz-Zaman encouraged the injured students, saying, "Never lose morale; there is no reason to. You are the pride of the nation and have made great sacrifices for it. We are grateful to you and assure you that we will always stand by your side."
"Our businesses, entrepreneurs and bankers are present here. With their financial support, we are making this possible," he added.
The army chief also said, "DGFI has contributed financial aid for you, which will be delivered to you. The Special Security Force (SSF) has also provided funds. We are spending money from the army’s resources as well."

This support will continue in the future, he said.
"So far, we have provided medical treatment to more than 4,200 injured people (at Combined Military Hospitals). This assistance will continue, and we will try to support your rehabilitation," he added.
Some 989 injured students have had successful surgery at CMHs around the country.
During the event, the Army Chief exchanged greetings with the injured students of the July Uprising and inquired about their well-being.
