“If the friendly relation and mutual understanding between the two neighbouring countries are good then it's easier to solve any (bilateral) problem,” he told the media after a call-on meeting with new Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami at the Secretariat.
He said the sharing of water of many common rivers, including Teesta, is an important issue and noted that both countries are hopeful about resolving it.
The friendly relationship between the two countries have been elevated to a new dimension following the sincere initiatives by the prime ministers of the two countries, the minister said.
Already the enclave issue and border problem have been resolved and a joint working group of the two countries are working to boost the economic potential in the maritime areas under Bangladesh, he added.
Besides, 928 buses and 500 trucks have been procured for BRTC under the Indian line of credit while necessary equipment are being procured for the development of road infrastructure and maintenance purpose, Quader said.
The four-lane work of the Ashuganj-riverport to Sarail-Dharkhar via Akhaura land port is going on, he said.
