“The ban on international passenger flights has been extended until April 14,” said a Caab press release.
It also said 16 countries will come under the restrictions. The countries are Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
But special and cargo flights will be out of the purview of the ban, the release added.
Earlier in the day, Biman Bangladesh Airlines announced cancellation of all flights until April 14.
“All international and domestic flights will remain suspended until April 14,” said Mokabbir Hossain, managing director of the national flag carrier.
On March 21, Bangladesh cancelled all international passenger flights until March 31 with 10 countries. Later, the ban was extended until April 7.
On March 15, the country suspended on-arrival visas for all countries for two weeks.
Bangladesh on Sunday announced 18 new coronavirus cases and another death. So far, the country has confirmed 88 cases and nine deaths.
COVID-19 is affecting 206 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances. The World Health Organization on March 11 declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic.
