Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday forecast light to moderate rain and thunder showers for most places of Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions in the next 24 hours commencing from 6pm.

The same was forecast for many places of Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places, the Met Office said in a regular weather bulletin.

It said the well-marked low over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area was persisting as a low.

The axis of monsoon trough was running through Rajasthan, centre of the low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh.

One of its associated troughs extended upto the North Bay. Monsoon was active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over the North Bay.

The day temperature may rise slightly while night temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged over the country, added the bulletin.

The sun rises in the capital at 5:37am on Monday.
