Cyclone Dana likely to drench parts of Bangladesh coast Thursday night
The severe cyclonic storm "Dana" over Eastcentral Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal moved North-Northwestwards and now lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay.
At 6am today, it was centered about 595 kms Southwest of Chattogram port, 555 kms Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 485 kms South of Mongla port and 475 kms South-Southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to move North-Northwesterly direction further, according to No-9 special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday morning.
Under the peripheral effect of the cyclonic storm, heavy (44-88 mm) to very heavy (289mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind may occur over North Bay, their offshore islands, chars and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 64 km of the severe cyclone center is about 90 kph rising to 110 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain high near the system center.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No-3.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.

Cyclone ‘Dana’ may intensify further: BMD
Cyclonic storm Dana over the East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area is likely to move West-Northwestwards direction and intensify further, according to the latest bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The storm moved West-Northwestwards and lies over the same area, it said.
It was centered at 12 noon 665 kilometers West-Southwestwads of Chittagong port, 600 kilometers West-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 640 kilometers South-Southeast of Mongla port, and 595 kilometers South-Southeast of Payra port, it said.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 54 kms of the cyclone center is around 62 kilometers per hour, with gusts and squalls potentially reaching up to 88 kilometers per hour.
Cyclonic storm nears as deep depression intensifies over Bay: BMD
Sea condition is expected to remain very rough near the cyclone's centre, the bulletin said.
Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to hoist cautionary signal-2.
All fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay and deep sea have been instructed to remain close to the coast and exercise extreme caution until further notice, it added.

BMD still coy about possibility of Cyclone Dana, unlike Indian counterpart
The Depression over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea moved West-Northwestwards and intensified into a Deep Depression over the East-Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining area, according to a special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Tuesday night.
At 6pm on Tuesday, it was centred about '740 kms, West-Southwest of Chattogram port, 660 kms West-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 75 5 kms South-Southeast of Mongla port and 700 kms South-Southeast of Payra port.
It is likely to move West-Northwesterly direction further and intensify into a cyclonic storm.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the deep depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts or squa11s. Sea will remain rough near the system centre.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number 1.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on the other hand, already predicted on Monday that a powerful cyclonic storm, named Cyclone ‘Dana’, is expected to develop from the depression and make landfall along the coasts of Bangladesh and India on October 24, posing a severe threat to the coastal regions.

Low over Bay may intensify into cyclone: BMD
The low over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining North Andaman Sea area is likely to move west-northwesterly direction and intensified into a Cyclonic Storm.
The low has intensified into a well-marked low over same area, said a Met office bulletin on Monday.
The Met office advised all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice, so that they can take shelter within a short notice.

A low pressure area is likely to form over the Eastcentral Bay and adjoining North Andaman Sea during next 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Sunday. A trough of low lies over North Bay.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, according to a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) update on Sunday morning.
The country’s highest 74millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Chattogram’s Sandwip in 24 hours till 6am on Sunday.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Sitakunda at 34.4 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Saturday while the lowest temperature 21 degree Celsius was recorded in Panchagarh’s Tetulia till 6am on Sunday.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thunder showers in all divisions including Dhaka of the country in 24 hours commencing 9:00am on Friday.
“Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Barishal and Chattogram divisions,” said a met office update.
The country’s highest 53millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Barishal in 24 hours till 6am on Friday.

Day temperatures may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the BMD.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Feni at 35.5 degree Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6pm on Thursday while the lowest temperature 21.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Panchagarh’s Tetulia till 6am on Friday.

Depression over Bay of Bengal, rain likely in Khulna
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has reported that the well-marked low over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression and is moving west-northwestwards.
According to the BMD, the depression is expected to continue moving in a west-northwesterly direction.
In its latest forecast, the BMD also predicted rain or thundershowers in Khulna division within 24 hours, starting from 9:00 am on Wednesday.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over Khulna division. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with partly cloudy skies,” BMD said.

The highest recorded rainfall in the country over 24 hours, up until 6:00 am on Wednesday, was 14mm in Dinajpur.
Day and night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged across the country, according to the BMD.
The highest temperature recorded during 24 hours, until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, was 35°C in Feni, Sitakunda, and Mongla, while the lowest temperature, 22.5°C, was recorded in Tetulia early Wednesday morning.

Low pressure area formed over Bay
A low pressure area has formed over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining area.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country in 24 hours from 9am on Monday, said a bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Besides, Southwest monsoon has departed Bangladesh, it said.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted light to moderate rains across the country in 24 hours commencing 9 am.
“Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,” said a Met office bulletin.

Monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Sayedpur at 35.4 degree Celsius on Friday while the lowest temperature 23.4 degree Celsius was recorded in Tetulia, Panchagarh till 6am on Saturday.
The country’s highest 30 millimeter of rainfall was recorded in Hatiya in 24 hours till 6am on Saturday.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
