A man was beaten to death allegedly over a land dispute in Lakshmipur on Friday.
The incident happened in Mahadevpur area of Dalal Bazar union of Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nur Nabi Bakul of Ali Raja Patwari Bari in area.
According to the relatives of the deceased, Bakul had a long-standing land dispute with local Abdur Rauf and his family.

In the morning, rivals Abdur Rauf Master, Ashraf Islam Babul and Zafar Ahmed Palash Gongra went to remove betel nut from the Bakul’s property. When Bakul resisted, both sides got into an argument. At one point, Bakul was beaten with a kick-punch and a stick, his family alleged.
Later, the locals rescued and took him to Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
Dr Kamalashish Roy, an on-duty doctor at Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, said the man died before he could be brought to the hospital. Initially, there were no injury marks on him. Details will be known after the autopsy.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lakshmipur Sadar Police Station Mosleh Uddin said the body has been sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action over the matter is under process.
