Shakil attended the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination 2019 from Chittagong Govt College as a student of Humanities department. Previously, he had obtained GPA 4.44 in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination from Rahmania High School in Chattogram.
He said this result has boosted his confidence to achieve his dream of becoming a teacher. “Sheer will and hardship is the key behind my result,” he added.
Shakil is currently preparing himself for the Dhaka University admission test. It should also be noted that among all the visually-impaired students of Chattogram, Shakil is the only one to obtain GPA-5.
Prof M Abul Hasan, Principal of Chittagong Govt College, hailed Shakil saying many of the ‘normal’ students could not achieve GPA-5 but despite being visually-impaired, Shakil managed to achieve the feat.
Md Shakil Khan is the son of Ayub Khan hailing from Bajalia union in Satkania upazila of Chattogram. From the age of five, his visual ability kept slowly declining which turned him completely visually-impaired within a few years.
