Although the investigation officer sought a seven-day remand for interrogation, the hearing did not take place as the main case documents were pending at the district judge’s court for a hearing involving other accused. The magistrate then sent Manik to district jail.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Kalimullah said detectives from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Manik from the capital’s Bashundhara area late Sunday night. He was later handed over to Narsingdi police the same night.
Madhabdi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nazrul Islam said Manik faces three separate cases and all filed after the student protests. He had been absconding since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
