17 arrested in special operation in Mohammadpur and Adabor
Police have arrested 17 individuals in special drives conducted in various crime-prone areas of Mohammadpur and Adabor police station areas in the capital.
The daylong operations were carried out on Thursday, confirmed Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman in a press release on Friday.
According to Mohammadpur Police Station, 13 individuals were arrested during the operation in different areas under its jurisdiction.
Police also recovered two kilograms of marijuana and a mobile phone from their possession.
Jubo League men arrested in murder case dating from July Uprising
The arrestees are: Jabir (25), Mithu (19), Ador (22), Anon (18), Nayon (20), Hridoy (26), Mehedi Hasan (21), Al Amin (21), Digonto (22), Jewel (27), Raihan (19), Monir (29), and Shaheen (35).
Meanwhile, Adabor police arrested four more individuals from separate locations in its area. They are: Md Mamunur Rashid alias Abir (35), Kazi Md Zayed (32), Md Yunus (22), and Md Rustam Ali (50). A private car was also seized during the operation.
Police said the arrestees include accused in regular cases, individuals with warrants, and others involved in various criminal activities. They have been sent to court.

Narsingdi AL leader and former mayor Manik arrested in Dhaka
Police have arrested Mosharraf Hossain Pradhan Manik, former mayor of Madhabdi municipality and general secretary of the local Awami League unit, from Dhaka in connection with a murder case.
He was produced before the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in Narsingdi around 11am on Monday. Judge Meshkatul Islam ordered him to be sent to jail.
Inspector Md Sairul Islam of Narsingdi court police said Manik was arrested in the case filed over the killing of a student named Shawon during last year’s anti-discrimination student protests in Madhabdi.
Sohag murder: Two more accused arrested in Keraniganj
Although the investigation officer sought a seven-day remand for interrogation, the hearing did not take place as the main case documents were pending at the district judge’s court for a hearing involving other accused. The magistrate then sent Manik to district jail.
Additional Superintendent of Police Md Kalimullah said detectives from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Manik from the capital’s Bashundhara area late Sunday night. He was later handed over to Narsingdi police the same night.
Madhabdi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Nazrul Islam said Manik faces three separate cases and all filed after the student protests. He had been absconding since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government.
