Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Mahid Uddin on Thursday said security has been increased though there is no information or threat of attack.
He made the remark in response to a question from reporters after inspecting the security system of metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon in the capital on Thursday afternoon.

The DMP official said that the authorities concerned have already been requested to take immediate step to install baggage scanners, archways and detect explosive substances as metro rail is an important communication establishment.
This security measure is part of DMP's best efforts to keep everyone safe in the city, the DMP official added.

When asked whether there is any threat of sabotage act on metro rail, Mahid said, “Saboteurs do not commit any crime after informing others. However, there is no information or threat of attack. We are increasing security every day at every location. Not just metro rail. We try to ensure safety in every place including railway stations, bus stations and roads. We do not expect any sabotage. We want everyone's cooperation, awareness,” he added.
When asked about setting fire on a passenger train in Tejgaon, he said, "Our work is going on. Video footages have already been collected and the investigation is underway. Time is yet to come to make any comment,” he added.
