Two people were killed in a collision between a private car and a CNG-run auto- rickshaw in the city’s Uttara area early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as auro-rickshaw driver Taiyab Ali, 65, and passenger Md Taifur Rahman Ratul, 25, who used to work at a private company at Uttara.

The accident occurred around 4:30am when the private car and the auto-rickshaw collided at Singer intersection in Uttara, leaving them seriously injured, said Nurul Hoque, sub-inspector (SI) of Uttara police station.
Later, the injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared driver Taiyab dead.
Ratul succumbed to his injuries at the hospital around 9am, said the official.

Meanwhile, the private car driver was given first aid at a local hospital as he got slight injuries.
The bodies were kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, said the SI.
Police also seized the vehicles, he added.
