Quddus Afrad, president of the organization and Sajjad Alam Khan Topu, its general secretary, made the request through a press release.
They said although the journalists are discharging their duties amidst the coronavirus crisis, most of the online, print medias and television channels are yet to pay salaries to their employees against several months including April.
Some of them paid salaries to the journalists but refrained from paying Eid bonus.
The DUJ found the situation worrisome and urged the owners to fix the issues. It was also cautioned that if the owners don’t pay heed to the demand, the media workers will stage a sit-in programme in front of the homes of the owners.
However, they also mentioned that a number of print media have already paid salaries and Eid bonuses to their journalists.
