A mobile court here on Saturday evening fined four shops for openly selling petroleum in the district town.
Executive Magistrate Samiul Islam said at the order of Deputy Commissioner Md Mazedur Rahman Khan, he led a mobile court drive in Badamtali, Nijgachhtala, Dhalirghat Bazar, Bangabandhu Road, Nanupur Baghra Bazar and Bohoria Bazar areas of the town to stop haphazard sale of petroleum.
Four shops were fined Tk 23,000 under the Petroleum Act 2016 during the drive.
On September 1, 2016, six people were killed in an accident during selling petroleum in Bangabandhu Road area of the town.
According to the act, every fuel oil selling shop has to have concrete floor, fire extinguishing cylinder and risk-free reservoir.
