The victim’s mother filed a case over the rape at Feni Model Police Station. The 10-year-old girl has undergone medical tests on Monday.
Police and the victim’s family said the families of the victim and barber Manik Das lived in the rented house of one Arif in Sadar Upazila’s Kalidah union.
On Oct 15, Manik’s wife requested the victim and her eight-year-old sister to bring his lunch. At the shop, Manik sent the younger sister to buy some snacks and raped the victim.
When the younger sister returned, she found the shop shut and when she entered it, she found her sister stripped naked.
After the sisters informed their family about the incident, Manik tried to reach an understanding with the victim’s family.
The victim said the barber had threatened to kill her parents if she informed anyone about the rape incident.
Feni police station’s in-charge Omar Haider said they arrested Manik as soon as they learned about the incident.
