Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab)-6 have arrested four people in connection with the gang rape of a woman in Khulna city on Wednesday night. The arrestees are auto-rickshaw drivers Belal Morol and Azizur Rahman Mithu, bakery worker Jihad Munshi and Md Rasel, a student. The couple was returning to their Phulbari Gate home from Bypass area in the city around 8pm. The accused ridding on two motorbikes obstructed the couple searched them introducing them as officials of administration. The alleged rapists videoed them the whole thing and threatened them not to disclose this. Pahan Chakma, senior assistant superintendent of the Rab-6, said they came to know the incident from their sources and asked the couple to come further to Khulna Medical College Hospital where they disclosed the incident. Police on Monday arrested two youths for allegedly raping a girl in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj. The arrestees are Kiron Khan, 24, son of Surmat Khan of Dargarchar village of the upazila and Faizul Islam, 22, son of Aminul Islam of East Sultanpur village of Sherpur sadar. On Sunday night, the father of the victim lodged a complaint at Shahjadpur police station, said Nazrul Islam Mridha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahjadpur police station. Following the complaint, a case was filed in this regard. Read: Youth arrested for stealing money dies in police custody According to the case statement, two rapists picked up the girl from her house Saturday at midnight and violated her in turns after taking her to the bank of the river Later, she managed to escape and describe her ordeals to her family members.  Police raided the Dargarchar area of the upazila on Sunday night and arrested the accused.

A 23-year-old girl has allegedly been raped by seven people for three days when she went to visit Sylhet on invitation of one of her friends. The crime took place at the house of the girl’s ‘friend’  Julee from August 19 to August 21, said Nazmul Huda, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station. A complaint was lodged with Jalalabad Police on Tuesday. Police arrested three people in this connection. They were Julekha alias Julee, 19, ‘friend’ of the rape survivor and wife of Zubayer Hossain, Zubayer Hossain, 28 and Joynal Mia, 40. Of the arrestees one gave confessional statement before the court on Tuesday while the two others were placed on one-day remand. July is her Facebook friend.  After getting invitation from Julee, the girl went to her house in Sylhet. Later, the alleged rapists with the help of Julee confined her to a room where she was violated by seven people twice. Julee assisted the rapists during her stay in the house, it said. Now the girl is undergoing treatment at Osmani Medical College and Hospital, said Azbahar Ali Sheikh, deputy commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have detained three people from Sadar upazila of Cox’s Bazar in connection with the gang rape of a school teacher. The detainees were Bedar Mia, 28, Mostak Mia, 24, and Belal Uddin, 22, of the district. Read:Housewife gang raped in Thakurgaon: 3 held A team of Rab-15 detained the trio from an under-construction building in PM Khali area of the town Tuesday night following a complaint filed at Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station by the rape survivor, said Assistant Superintendent of Police Nityananda Das at a press briefing on Wednesday. On August 19,  prime accused Bedar Mia along with his three associates raped the school teacher at gun point  taking her to the under-construction building. The detainees confessed to their crime during primary questioning, said the officer. The detainees were handed over to Cox’s Bazar Sadar police station, he added.

A 14-year-old madrasa girl has allegedly been raped by three men after abduction in Kachua upazila of Chandpur, said police. The crime took place Friday afternoon at an abandoned building near Khidda Bazar of the upazila. Md Mohiuddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kachua police station, said three rapists abducted the girl from a CNG-run auto rickshaw on her way to home and violated her in turns after taking her to the abandoned building, leaving her unconscious. Following her statement, police arrested accused Russel Mia, 26, on Sunday and produced him before the court Monday morning, said Moni Rani Bhoumik, sub-inspector (SI) of Kachua police station. Efforts are on to arrest the two other accused- Mohammad Ullah, 35, and Md Hasan, 25, the SI added. Besides, the rape survivor’s medical tests were also done this morning.

Police have arrested the prime accused in a case over the gang rape of a woman from Bagerhat district town. The arrestee was Saiful Islam Tito, 26, son of Shamsul Hawladar of Boro Bashbaria village in Sadar upazila. KM Azizul Islam, officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, on Tuesday said Tito was arrested from the district town on Monday night. Earlier, a 24-year-old divorced woman was reportedly raped by five men at Boro Bashbaria village in Sadar upazila. The crime took place in the dead of night at a betel-nut orchard as the criminals took her there when the woman, a mother of a four-year-old child, came out from her home in response to the nature, said Additional Superintendent of police Mahmud Hasan. She is now undergoing treatment at Bagerhat District Hospital. The woman lodged a complaint with Bagerhat Model Police Station and police registered a case.  

A young girl has reportedly been raped by four men on Bayezid-Fouzdarhat Link road in Chattogram, police said on Monday. The crime was took place on Saturday under no 2 bridge of Sitakunda upazila. The girl is now undergoing treatment at One-Stop-Crisis Centre of Chattogram Medical College and Hospital. At one stage, they violated her in turns. Later, she made a phone call at emergency helpline 999 and then police rescued the girl. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) detained  three people including the prime accused on Saturday in a case filed over the rape of  a woman after abduction in Cox’s Bazar. The detainees were Firoz alias Mostak Dakat, Md Sharif alias Sharif Company and Nurul Islam from Islampur village in Eidgaon upazila in Cox’s Bazar, said Leiutenant Colonel Khayrul Islam Sarkar, commander of Rab-15 on Saturday. The three accused were arrested in the early hours of Saturday from Napitkhali area in the upazila, he said. They will be handed over to Eidgaon police station after filing a case,” said the Rab-15Commander. A case was filed at Cox’s Bazar sadar model police station after receiving a complaint from a woman about her rape by  four people  after abducting her from Cox’s Bazar court premises on March 14.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Tuesday arrested two more accused in the case over the gang rape of a woman in Khulna city. Rab-6 Director Lt. Col. Muhammad Mushtaq Ahmed said they arrested Sumon and Alamin Mollik, residents of Shiromoni area of Khulna, from Chitalmari in Bagerhat. On March 18, four men forcibly dragged a couple to a garage near the Tetultala railway crossing in Khanjahan Ali area of Khulna city around 10:30pm, where they tied up the husband with a rope and took turns to rape the 27-year-old woman. Based on the woman's complaint, an FIR for gang-rape was lodged against the four men -- identified as Kamrul, Jibon, Sumon and Alamin -- at Khanjahan Ali police station on Saturday morning. Police arrested Kamrul, the owner of the garage, on Saturday night. Based on their information, police arrested Sumon and Alamin today. However, the prime accused Jibon is still on the run. “Efforts are on to arrest him,” said the official.

A  young woman who was rescued after a 999 call filed a rape case on Tuesday against nine people in Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station. Four of the accused who are named in the case are Eidgaon upazila’s Firoz Ahmed, Russell Uddin, Nurul Islam and Md Sharif. Five are unnamed accused. Cox's Bazar Sadar Police officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Munir Ul Gias said the written statement of the girl was recorded as a case on March 15 at noon. The victim has been sent to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for a physical examination. According to the statement, Firoz and Sharif had earlier threatened the 24-year-old woman, and on March 14 abducted her in a microbus from Cox’s Bazar court area. Feroz snatched gold ornaments and cash money from the young woman. They took her to the house of Feroz's relative Fazal Quader in Baharchhara area of the city. There she was raped by Firoz, Sharif and their companions. READ: Teenager gang-raped in N'ganj She said in the statement that her mobile phone was also taken by them. A man named Russell Uddin, claiming himself  to be a police officer, threatened to sue her for human trafficking if she told anyone about the rape. He raped her too. At one stage, the women lost her consciousness due to gang rape when Russell and Sharif dragged her out of the house and fled. Seeing this a person on the street immediately called 999. Later she was rescued by police from the spot. Besides, she has also been pressured for a settlement. However, OC Munir said the names of four accused have been mentioned in the case. Police will launch an operation to nab everyone involved in the incident.
