The authorities on Saturday collected Tk 6,32,51,423 (6 crore 32 lakh 51 thousand 423) after opening nine donation boxes at the historic Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj.
This sum has shattered all previous fundraising records for the mosque.
Earlier at 7:30am, the donation boxes were opened in presence of Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Abul Kalam Azad, Superintendent of Kishoreganj Police Mohammad Russel Sheikh and Kishoreganj Additional District Magistrate Kazi Mahua Mantaz.

More than 200 people including 112 students of Pagla Mosque Madrasa, Assistant General Manager of Rupali Bank Rafiqul Islam and 59 bank staff joined the counting process.
Alongside local currency, Dollar, Pound, Riyal, Dinar and Ringgit were found in the donation boxes.

Earlier, on August 19, the authorities found cash Tk 5.78 crore in 23 sacks in the mosque.
This time, the donation boxes were opened after 3 months and 20 days.
The Deputy Commissioner said there were eight donation boxes in the traditional Pagla mosque. But the authorities had to add a ninth box as the amount of donation has increased.
